The Truth behind the fabricated article about Latif Yahia featured in The British Sunday Times & The Guardian
In 2011, the book I wrote based on my life story in 1993 was turned into a movie of the same name. During this time I was subjected to huge interest from the media, wanting to know more about my life story and also to hear it from my own mouth. It was also during this period that three of what I considered to be respectable media outlets decided they might sell more newspapers by putting a sceptical, negative twist on my life story which went on to damage my credibility as a writer and continue to affect my good name in a defamatory manner to this day. These newspapers, The Sunday Times, The Guardian and The Independent all ran a similar article in which they made false, unproven statements. The article’s mentioned all stemmed from a man who claimed to be a journalist from The Irish Times. This man, who I welcomed into my home when he claimed to be a student journalist decided he was going to use his personal vendetta against me to create a name for himself in the media. Unfortunately for him, he made a fool of himself and no longer works in the media but the damage he initially inflicted still has a significant effect on my good name. Take for example how Wikipedia has decided to only use these slanderous articles as a source of information about me.
I requested to each of these newspapers to retract their defamatory articles and print an apology as the articles were causing an extremely negative effect on my credibility and the good reputation I had spent years building as a writer. This, and also I requested the retractions as the articles were based on completely unreliable sources and no solid proof.
For more detailed information please see the article I posted on my official website in response to the slanderous articles.
I am now starting the proceedings of bringing each of these newspapers and the people involved to court for defamation and long-term damage to my name. I am currently searching for an experienced lawyer so my good name can be restored and all involved can learn the lesson of why assumptions cannot be written as fact, especially in the media. http://www.latifyahia.net/news/dirty-tricks-and-media-manipulation
